In April 2022, I started a series exploring five different areas of our wellbeing. I like to call them “buckets,” because it helps us visualize a full bucket as contributing to our wellbeing, whereas an empty bucket suffers wellbeing.
The wellbeing framework I’m using can be found at slathy.com. It is based on what I’ve found we absolutely cannot survive without, and what we need to not just survive, but also thrive.
Each week I offered five questions to help you consider one of five wellbeing buckets. First up is the bucket of our worth, which includes how we think about our purpose, plans for the future, and hope. It’s how we answer the age-old question, “Why am I here?”
Hint: if you’ve been paying attention to all the posts I’ve made about talents and strengths, you might have heard me mentioning Gallup’s statistics on the likelihood of you having the same talents as someone else. Essentially, their research shows the chances of two people having the exact same top five ranking of talent strengths is 1 in 33.4 million. And the chances of someone having the same full 34 ranking as you? Well, there just aren’t enough people in the world for that to happen.
Spoiler alert: We need you! The world needs your unique way of thinking about things. You are not an accident! You are uniquely created to achieve uniquely wonderful things in this world… and I am so glad you’re here.
